Erectile dysfunction care that starts with the cause.
ED is common, treatable, and often an early signal about your heart, metabolism, or hormones. We build a private, personalized plan that combines metabolic health, medication, and injection treatments like PRP where they fit.
ED is more than a bedroom issue
Erections depend on healthy blood vessels, nerves, hormones, and muscles. When one of those systems struggles, ED is often the first sign.
An early heart-health warning
The arteries in the penis are smaller than those in the heart, so narrowing can show up as ED years before other symptoms.
Linked to blood sugar and weight
Diabetes, prediabetes, high cholesterol, and excess abdominal weight all reduce blood flow and nerve function.
Testosterone and thyroid
Low testosterone can lower desire and erection quality. Thyroid and other hormone imbalances can play a role too.
The pelvic floor
These muscles help trap blood in the penis during an erection. Weakness or tension can make erections harder to keep.
Your treatment pathways
Most men do best with a combination. Your plan is based on your assessment, your goals, and what fits your life.
Metabolic optimization
Treat the root causes with weight management, physical activity, pelvic floor physiotherapy, and optimized bloodwork.

Trimix and neuromodulators (Botox/Dysport) for men who need more than tablets.
Learn more ↓Metabolic optimization
The foundation of lasting improvement. These changes treat what's driving ED and benefit your heart and long-term health at the same time.
Supported, realistic weight loss
Losing even a modest amount of weight can improve blood vessel function, testosterone levels, and erections. We create a plan that's sustainable.
- Nutrition guidance focused on blood sugar and heart health
- Medical weight-management options when appropriate
- Regular check-ins to track progress
Movement that improves blood flow
Regular aerobic exercise is one of the best-studied lifestyle treatments for ED. Strength training adds benefits for metabolism and testosterone.
- Aim for about 40 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity, around 4 times a week
- A starting point that matches your current fitness
- Gradual progression you can keep up
Stronger erections from the ground up
Our physiotherapy team teaches targeted pelvic floor training. It can improve erection firmness and staying power, and it also helps with leakage after urination.
- One-on-one, private assessment
- A home exercise program you can do anywhere
- Help with tight or overactive muscles, not just weak ones
Optimizing important blood levels
We test for the most common medical contributors to ED, then treat what we find. Correcting these levels can improve erections and help medications work better.
- Clear explanation of your results
- Treatment and follow-up testing as needed
- Referral to specialists when appropriate
Blood levels we commonly check
Medication management
Tablets are the first-line treatment for ED and work for most men. All three medications increase blood flow to the penis when you're aroused. They don't cause an erection on their own.
Tadalafil
- How taken
- As needed, or a low dose once daily
- Starts in
- About 30 minutes to 2 hours
- Lasts
- Up to 36 hours
- Food
- Works with or without food
- Good for
- Spontaneity, or men who also have urinary symptoms from an enlarged prostate
Sildenafil
- How taken
- As needed, about an hour before sex
- Starts in
- About 30 to 60 minutes
- Lasts
- About 4 to 6 hours
- Food
- Works best on an empty stomach; heavy meals slow it down
- Good for
- Occasional use, or men who prefer a shorter-acting option
Vardenafil
- How taken
- As needed, about an hour before sex
- Starts in
- About 30 to 60 minutes
- Lasts
- About 4 to 6 hours
- Food
- Works with a light meal; high-fat meals can slow it down
- Good for
- Men who didn't get the response they wanted from sildenafil, or who prefer a shorter-acting option
Getting the most out of medication
Many men who think tablets "don't work" were never given the right dose, timing, or instructions. We fine-tune your prescription, review side effects, and adjust until it works for you.
Usually mild and short-lived
The most common are headache, flushing, a stuffy nose, and indigestion. Tadalafil can cause back or muscle aches; sildenafil and vardenafil can briefly affect colour vision.
Safety first.
These medications must not be taken with nitrates (such as nitroglycerin for chest pain) or certain other heart and blood pressure medications, and vardenafil isn't used with some heart-rhythm medications. We review your full health history and medication list before prescribing. Seek urgent care for an erection lasting more than 4 hours.
PRP treatment
A private, in-office treatment that uses platelets from your own blood.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is made by taking a small blood sample and spinning it to concentrate the platelets. After numbing cream is applied, PRP is injected with a very fine needle into the erectile tissue. The idea is that platelet growth factors may support the health of blood vessels and nerves.
Plans often include 2–3 sessions about a month apart, with little to no downtime. Most men return to normal activity the same day.
Some small studies report improved erections, while others show no clear benefit over placebo. We'll be honest about where the research stands and offer PRP alongside, not instead of, proven treatments.
May be worth considering if
- You have mild to moderate ED
- Tablets are losing their effect, cause side effects, or aren't safe for you
- You want a non-surgical option before other treatments
- You're also working on metabolic health
- You're comfortable with results that aren't guaranteed
Other injection treatments
For men who don't respond to tablets or can't take them, we also offer in-office injection options. Your provider will explain the benefits and risks of each.
Reliable results when tablets fall short
Trimix is a combination of three medications that relax blood vessels in the penis. It is injected with a tiny needle into the side of the shaft and usually produces an erection within 5 to 20 minutes, even when tablets haven't worked.
- Your first dose is given in clinic so we can find the right amount
- We teach you how to inject safely at home
- Well-established, with a high success rate
A newer option for selected men
Small doses of a neuromodulator are injected into the erectile tissue. The aim is to relax the smooth muscle so more blood can flow in. It is sometimes used alongside tablets when they've stopped working well.
- A quick in-office treatment
- Effects may last several months
- Considered an off-label, emerging treatment for ED
Know the warning signs.
Injection treatments can occasionally cause an erection that lasts too long. Seek urgent care for any erection lasting more than 4 hours. We'll go over this, and what to do, before you start.

Together we choose your starting point: metabolic changes, physiotherapy, medication, PRP or other injections, or a mix of these.
Review and adjust
We track progress with a standard symptom questionnaire, recheck bloodwork if needed, and fine-tune your treatment.
Long-term health
We continue to support your metabolic and heart health, and refer to our urology team if more specialized care is needed.
Frequently asked questions
Is erectile dysfunction common?
Yes. ED affects a large share of men over 40, and it becomes more common with age, diabetes, heart disease, and excess weight. It is a medical issue, and it is treatable.
Why do you check my bloodwork?
Erections depend on healthy blood vessels, nerves, and hormones. Blood sugar, cholesterol, and testosterone problems are common causes of ED, and finding them can protect your heart and overall health too.
Which is best: tadalafil, sildenafil, or vardenafil?
All three work well for most men. Tadalafil lasts longer and can be taken daily, while sildenafil and vardenafil are taken as needed and wear off sooner. We help you choose based on your routine, health, and side effects.
Can men see a pelvic floor physiotherapist?
Yes. The pelvic floor muscles help keep blood in the penis during an erection. Targeted training with a physiotherapist can improve erection quality, especially when combined with other treatment.
Where does PRP fit in?
PRP is an option for some men, often when tablets are losing their effect or aren't suitable. Research is still early, so we offer it alongside, not instead of, proven treatments.
Is my visit confidential?
Yes. Your visit is private, and you'll see the same small team from your first appointment through follow-up.
Is it covered by Alberta Health?
Your consultation is covered by Alberta Health. Medications are paid through your pharmacy or private plan, and PRP and other injection treatments are elective and not covered. We'll review any costs before anything is booked.
