"I just don't feel like myself anymore."
We hear this every day. Hormone shifts, life stages, and busy lives can change how you sleep, feel, and look, often slowly enough that you start to think it's just normal. It's common. That doesn't mean you have to put up with it.
Hot flashes, night sweats & poor sleep
Sudden waves of heat, soaked sheets, and broken sleep that leaves you running on empty.
Changing or unpredictable periods
Cycles that are closer together, further apart, heavier, or harder to plan around.
Mood changes & brain fog
New anxiety, irritability, low mood, forgetfulness, or trouble finding words.
Weight that won't shift
Weight gain around the middle and changes in metabolism, even when your habits haven't changed.
Contraception concerns
Side effects, missed pills, mood changes, or simply wanting to know what else is out there.
Dryness, low libido & pain with intimacy
Vaginal dryness, irritation, or pain, and a drop in desire that can strain relationships.
Bladder leaks & recurring infections
Leaking with a cough or workout, sudden urgency, or bladder infections that keep coming back.
Hair & skin changes
Shedding or thinning hair, adult acne, dry skin, or unwanted facial hair.
You don't need to have it all figured out before you book.
Many of these symptoms are connected. Bring the whole list. We'll help sort out what's going on and what to tackle first.
Wherever you are, we'll meet you there
Your needs change across your life. Choose the stage that fits you best.
Taking charge of your health and your plans
Whether you're choosing birth control for the first time, switching methods, or dealing with heavy or irregular periods, acne, or PCOS symptoms, we'll help you understand your options and find what works for your body and your goals.
This is also the time to stay on top of prevention: cervical screening, HPV vaccination, and confidential STI testing.
How we can help
- Choosing, starting, or switching contraception
- Heavy, painful, or irregular periods
- Hormonal acne, unwanted hair growth, and PCOS concerns
- Pap tests and HPV prevention
- STI testing, vaginal infections, and UTIs
- Iron deficiency from heavy periods
The transition no one warned you about
Perimenopause is the lead-up to menopause, when hormone levels rise and fall unpredictably. It most often starts in your 40s, sometimes in your late 30s, and can last several years.
Because periods often continue, many women don't realize their sleep problems, anxiety, weight changes, or heavier periods are hormonal. Bloodwork alone often can't confirm it. Listening to your story usually tells us more, and there are effective options to help.
How we can help
- Sorting out which symptoms are hormonal, and which aren't
- Hormone therapy, and non-hormonal options
- Contraception that can also ease symptoms
- Sleep, mood, and energy support
- Weight and metabolic health
- Heavy or irregular bleeding
Feeling well for the decades ahead
Menopause is confirmed after 12 months without a period, usually around age 51. Hot flashes and sleep problems may ease over time, but other changes, like vaginal dryness, bladder symptoms, and recurring UTIs, often continue or get worse without treatment.
This stage is also a chance to protect your long-term health, including your bones, heart, and metabolism.
How we can help
- Menopausal hormone therapy, reviewed for your personal risks
- Vaginal dryness and genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM)
- Bladder leaks and recurring UTIs
- Weight, muscle, and metabolic health
- Skin and hair changes
- Bone and heart health check-ins

Frequently asked questions
Is my consultation covered by Alberta Health?
Yes. Consultations with our team are covered by Alberta Health with a valid Alberta Personal Health Card. Some things outside the visit, such as certain prescriptions, devices, vaccines, cosmetic skin treatments, and PRP, may have a cost. We'll always tell you before anything is booked.
What is a nurse practitioner-led practice?
Nurse practitioners are registered nurses with advanced graduate education. In Alberta they can assess, diagnose, order tests, prescribe medication, and manage your care from start to finish. At Preceptus, nurse practitioners lead your care, with physician specialists and physiotherapy on the same team when you need them.
Do I need a referral?
Contact our clinic and our team will let you know what's needed to book and whether recent bloodwork or test results can be used.
Am I too young for perimenopause?
Perimenopause most often begins in your 40s, but it can start in your late 30s. It can last several years before your final period. If your cycle, sleep, mood, or energy has changed and you're not sure why, it's worth a conversation.
Is hormone therapy safe?
For many healthy women under 60, or within about 10 years of their last period, the benefits of menopausal hormone therapy for bothersome symptoms generally outweigh the risks. It isn't right for everyone. We review your personal and family history and walk you through hormonal and non-hormonal options.
Can I bring up more than one concern at a visit?
Yes. Many women come in with several things going on, like sleep, mood, weight, and bladder changes, that are often connected. Tell us everything when you book so we can plan enough time.
Can I keep seeing my family doctor?
Yes. We can work alongside your family doctor or nurse practitioner and share results and plans with them when you'd like us to.
Let's get you feeling like you again.
You don't need the right words or a diagnosis to book. Just tell us what's been going on, and we'll take it from there.
