Women's Health  /  Weight Management

Weight care that understands women's bodies.

Hormones, sleep, stress, and life stage all shape your weight. We look at the whole picture, from PCOS to perimenopause, and build a medical plan that can include nutrition, movement, and prescription options like GLP-1 medications when appropriate.

Covered by Alberta Health

Consultations are covered with a valid Alberta Personal Health Card.

Nurse practitioner-led

NPs assess, diagnose, order tests, and prescribe, with time to talk things through.

In-person or virtual

Many follow-ups can be virtual. Exams and procedures happen in clinic.

Does this sound familiar

It's not a lack of willpower

Weight is shaped by biology, not just effort. Here's what women tell us.

“I'm doing everything the same, but my waist keeps growing.”

Midlife weight changes

Falling estrogen in perimenopause shifts fat toward the belly and makes muscle harder to keep.

“I've had PCOS for years and the weight won't budge.”

PCOS and insulin resistance

Insulin resistance makes weight harder to lose and affects periods, skin, and hair.

“I'm always hungry, and I'm exhausted.”

Cravings, sleep, and energy

Poor sleep, low iron, thyroid problems, and some medications can all drive hunger and weight gain.

“I've tried every diet.”

Diets that don't last

Your body fights weight loss by increasing hunger. Medical support can help with that biology.

Our approach

A medical plan built around you

No one-size-fits-all diet. We treat weight as a health condition, with respect and real support.

Assess

We review your history, medications, sleep, cycle, and goals, and order bloodwork when needed, such as thyroid, blood sugar, iron, and cholesterol.

Plan

Realistic changes you can keep: enough protein, strength training to protect muscle, better sleep, and stress support.

Medication

When appropriate, prescription medications such as GLP-1s can quiet hunger and help your body respond to the changes you're making.

Follow up

Regular check-ins to track progress, manage side effects, adjust doses, and keep you moving forward.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Will you put me on a strict diet?

No. We focus on realistic, lasting changes, such as eating enough protein, building strength, and sleeping better, not crash diets.

Will I need to take medication forever?

Not necessarily. Weight often returns if medication stops suddenly, so we'll plan together for how long to take it and how to maintain your results.

Can I take a GLP-1 if I'm planning a pregnancy?

GLP-1 medications should be stopped before trying to conceive. Let us know your plans so we can time things safely.

Will hormone therapy help me lose weight?

Menopausal hormone therapy isn't a weight-loss treatment, but easing hot flashes and poor sleep can make healthy habits easier. Our hormone support team can help.

How do I find out about my medication coverage?

We'll connect you with our pharmacy team, who can go over your coverage, costs, and options with you.

Support that works with your body.

You don't have to figure this out alone. Book a consultation and let's build a plan that fits your life.
